Engineer Ari and the Rosh Hashanah Ride
As a child, I always loved the Rosh Hashanah rides at the amusement park. The Ferris wheel, the roller coaster, the bumper carsthey were all so much fun! But my favorite ride of all was the Engineer Ari ride.
Engineer Ari was a giant robot who would take you on a wild adventure through the park. He would spin you around, flip you upside down, and even make you fly! It was the most exhilarating ride I had ever been on.
One year, on the eve of Rosh Hashanah, I went to the amusement park with my family. I was so excited to ride the Engineer Ari ride again! But when we got to the ride, I was disappointed to see that it was closed.
“What’s wrong?” I asked the attendant.
“The ride is broken,” he said. “We’re not sure when it will be fixed.”
I was heartbroken. I had been looking forward to riding the Engineer Ari ride all year!
But then, I had an idea. I went to the park’s engineering office and asked to speak to the engineer who had built the ride.
“My name is Ari,” I said. “I’m an engineer too. I think I might be able to fix the ride.”
The engineer laughed. “You’re just a kid,” he said. “You don’t know anything about engineering.”
“I may be just a kid,” I said, “but I’m a good engineer. And I’m determined to fix this ride.”
The engineer agreed to let me try to fix the ride. I worked on it all night long. By morning, the ride was fixed!
I was so happy! I couldn’t wait to ride the Engineer Ari ride again.
I got in line and waited my turn. When it was finally my turn, I climbed into the ride and strapped myself in.
The ride started up, and I was off! I soared through the air, spinning and flipping and flying. It was even better than I remembered!
When the ride was over, I got out and thanked the engineer.
“You’re welcome,” he said. “I’m glad I could help.”
I smiled. “Me too,” I said. “This was the best Rosh Hashanah ride ever!”
